quadruple play

**This was an email written by my father-in-law about Brandons T-ball game this week.* *

Hey All, T-Ball League update
I went to Brandon's t-ball game last night.....saw my very 1st quadruple play......unassisted no less by Brandon! The crowd of people (a lot of grannys & gramps) there were going nuts with their cheering!......what determination he had! It was quite a show.

Rules: Everyone bats each inning......they advance only 1 base at a time, no matter how far the ball is hit.....except for the last batter in each teams line-up. The last batter runs all the way around the bases, whether he is put out or not......so does anyone on base when the last batter hits......they all run the bases and head for home plate.

So: Early in the season, Brandon figured out that when the last batter hits, if he could get the ball to the 3rd base/homeplate base line, runners could be tagged out. So this is what he would do if he got possesion of the ball after the last batter hit......head-em' off at the pass and let them come to him.

Last Evening: The last inning......Brandon was playing 1st base......the bases were loaded.....the last batter hit the ball which was fielded in the infield and tossed to Brandon. He immediately raced to home plate with the ball.

The runner at 3rd didn't run very well/or was late starting to run and Brandon beat him there.....the runner ran about 10 ft out of the baseline and Brandon chased him around and tagged him out......out # 1.

The runner from 2nd base was now coming towards the plate and tried to avoid being tagged by also running way out of the base line.....Brandon ran him down too and tagged him out.....out #2.

The runner from 1st, was now rounding 3rd and tried to avoid the tag by running towards the pitcher's position.....Brandon ran after him and got him tagged out......out # 3.

By this time, the batter was now rounding 3rd base and was zig-zagging, trying to avoid Brandon's tag......Brando stayed with it and finally got him tagged out.....out # 4.

I'm telling you, it was great! Brando was like a middle linebacker.....he refused to let any of them score.......he really hustled. Like I said, people were cheering like all-get-out at his hustle and determination.

Well done Brandon!

ps: I know, I know......for you baseball purists out there, whoever tossed Brandon the ball should get an assist on the play......but, seeing as I am also the offical scorer, I declare it to be an unassisted quadruple play.
